"Coordinate, communicate, exterminate"

Films: The Hive (2008)

Alias: None

Type: Natural/Alien

Location: Jungle/Civilized Area/Cave

Height/Weight: That of average ants.

Affiliation: Neutral, leaning on Evil

Summary: Killer ants are one Hell of a go-to when it comes to killer insect movies. They're strong, smart, and above all, in sync with one another. But can a species be TOO in sync? This film answers that question with a horrifying 'yes'.

History: Some time ago, a jungle village in Thailand fell to ruin due to a massive swarm of ants coming at it. As it turns out, an ethereal alien intelligence has infected the ants' minds, and is using them to take the place over. Only the appropriately named Thorax Team can have any hope of stopping this threat. But this swarm is unlike any before it, and knows how stay one step ahead at all times.

Notable Kills: One of the first deaths we see is that of a swarmed baby. This film does not mess around.

Final Fate: After the main base of the ants is found, it being a cave, the intelligence's bribery falls on deaf ears, and after the ants combine into a giant ant beast, they are all blown up by a time bomb. But the intelligence still remains, and goes back to fueling more ants with its power...

Powers/Abilities: Using the alien's intelligence, the ants can alter the motives of some people that they bite, and form massive and strong constructs out of each other. And of course, they are ridiculously smart, lighting up to send messages and setting up elaborate traps.

Weakness: Anything conventional, though the alien seems unstoppable.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-This is perhaps the most ridiculously overpowered insect swarm we've seen. The sheer creativity the ants employ when plowing through competition is astounding. Unfortunately, so is the incredibly low effects budget, knocking their fright by a significant number. Bummer.

Trivia: -Amusingly, this film was known in Japan as "Them".

-It was a colony of Argentine ants in 2002 that won the record for largest ant colony, with enough troops to cover over 6,000 kilometers. Such a massive colony is theorized to be capable of travelling across the ocean!

This is just a hunk of chicken to them.

Nature spares nobody. NOBODY.
Death and torture, it seems.

A bit narcisistic, eh, guys?
Sorry. This battle is pretty much over.
Weirdest remake ever.
